Zlatibor

Situated in a romantic mountainous region and surrounded by picturesque natural beauty, Zlatibor is one of the pearls of Western Serbia.

Zlatibor is located 230km from Belgrade, and only 25km from the city of Užice.
Its highest peak is Tornik, standing at a great 1,496 meters high. You will require some solid strength and be in good physical form in order to traverse to the peak of the mountain. However, your efforts will most certainly be rewarded once you set your eyes on the scenic marvels that await below.

Zlatibor’s climate can be described as almost ideal. The summers are warm, while the winters are not too cold.
Expert sporting enthusiasts might not consider it as their number one destination. However, it should be noted that it does snow in Zlatibor between October through to May. In addition, it also houses some lovely ski slopes. Primarily Zlatibor is known as an all-round therapeutic tourist destination. Particularly, its list of activities and places to visit are climatic health resorts, spas, scenic mountain views, recreational hunting and fishing.

Other places of interest in Zatibor include:

Kremna – well known for the prophets Miloš Tarabić and his nephew Mitar Tarabić who lived in this village in the 19th century. People today believe that they were visionaries. Namely, they had prophesied future events local to the region and even some on a global scale.

Šarganska osmica – a 12km long narrow-gauge railway. It was built in the form of figure eight to ease the ascent of the Šargan mountain. An old steam train named “Cira” will take you on this journey between the Šargan and Mokra Gora mountains.

Drvengrad – a beautiful ethno-style village. Notably built by renowned director Emir Kusturica for his film “Life Is a Miracle”.
Drvengrad is located between Zlatibor and Tara, on the hill of Mećavnik. More commonly known as “Kustendorf”, the International Film Festival is also held here. Furthermore, it is conceived as a meeting place for young filmmakers and students alike as well as acclaimed world directors and actors.
