The region is home to 27 glacial lakes, the largest of which is Bogovinskoe Lake, located near the summit of Borislaec, at an altitude of 1,960 meters.
Popova Šapka, an area of the Shar Mountains and located 35km from Skopje, is one of North Macedonia’s most popular skiing locations which sits at an altitude of 1,780 meters and is home to some fabulous ski slopes that extend up to 20km in length.
During the winter season, Popova Šapka buzzes with a diverse mix of tourists from all over that have come to enjoy the slopes and have some fun in the snow.
