This splendid national park is blessed with mighty mountain peaks and consists of 18 glacial lakes. Also referred to as “mountain eyes”, the peaks reach altitudes above 1,500 meters, surrounded by rich conifer forests. The highest peak is Bobot’s hip, which sits at 2,523 meters high.
The largest and most attractive liquid landmark is the Black Lake (Crno jezero). Durmitor also houses the famous mountain town of Zabljak, which is home to Montenegro’s winter tourist resorts.
The Tara River Canyon, known for its 1000m depth (and reaching 1300m at some points), is the second deepest canyon in the world. That is, after the Grand Canyon of Colorado River in the USA.
Nature lovers from around the world who spend their well-earned vacations here are awestricken by the diversity of this national park’s wildlife. Not to mention it also makes part of UNESCO’s list of World Natural Heritage sites.
